Time is a relative concept. This is a well-known fact in the modern era after a man called Einstein (on Earth) discovered this in the early 20th century.
How does time move? It's simple: It can only go forwards. In other words, time travel to the past is blatantly impossible. Time travel to the past requires that one move faster than the speed of light. Breaking the tachyonic barrier, so to speak. Traveling the speed of light requires an infinite amount of energy. So, you would need beyond an infinite amount of energy to go faster. Since infinites cannot physically exist, we are trapped in our circle, our cone, our world... of light.
Traveling faster than light would also disrupt causality and could create paradoxes. But there is an interesting solution that solves the well-known Grandfather Paradox (which states that going back in time and killing your grandfather would result in a paradox since he would not exist to father your parents, therefore being impossible for you to be born).
There is an object called a Mobius strip.
It's quite a fascinating object.
It's a two-dimensional surface, yet by curling in the third dimension, retains merely one surface. If an ant walked along the surface of a Mobius strip, it would eventually end up right back where it started after covering the entirety of what would have been two surfaces if it were an ordinary ring.
This is my consideration for a seemingly ridiculous hypothesis.
What if the time we experience is not a line, but a Mobius strip?
You go back in time. You kill your grandfather. You are unable to be born. Therefore... You cannot go back in time. Your grandfather is still alive. You are born.
Repeat.
Traveling along the strip would result in every event happening... Again, and again... Forever. Yes, by lending itself to another dimension, it exists in time forever... Until it is physically destroyed.
And since this strip itself exists in a higher dimension... Every event that continues to happen forever happens simultaneously.
A two-dimensional ant walking along the strip must take it step by step, but a three-dimensional human can witness the entire strip at once.
Here is more evidence that lends my hypothesis more credence.
How does time flow? The only strict rule is that it cannot flow backwards. However, individuals can witness different speeds at which time flows.
If one is moving faster, time slows down for them. Similarly, if one is in the presence of a strong gravitational field, time passes faster outside of it.
Slowing down time requires some sort of energy. Therefore, worlds where time passes more slowly are subject to a higher energy state.
But what if there is a world whose energy state is so high that it is seemingly infinite to us? Time would stop completely.
Time would stop, yet I... we... everyone in these worlds... experience time normally. It flows forwards.
It should not be possible for a world to have infinitely more energy than ours. There must be a way to break free.
What kind of world do they live in?
Perhaps only they can say for certain.
