Parallel World Pharmacy is an isekai that all isekais should strive to be, at the very least. It's got all of the great fundamentals of an isekai plus tidbits on top to keep it interesting.
We have a medical doctor from Japan who gets reincarnated into a world of poor tech and high magic, which is typical. However, this show DOES ITS RESEARCH with all of the medical terminology and is pretty accurate on all fronts.
We have the TMG being ACKNOWLEDGED as Panactheos' (god of medicine's) reincarnation - he is no longer the Farma everyone once knew.
The "truth of the world" is also something every isekai should aspire to have. It's a different world, so there should be a different fundamental truth about it. Isekai Yakkyoku has its own twist on this, in the case that it's the microorganisms that are the "truth of disease", and it's discovered by the inhabitants of that world though it's something we already know.
Having the "evil spirit" being a native of that world and discovering its truth only makes this hit harder.
And to top it off, the characters are fun. Characters run the show, so if they're boring, the show's boring. Most people would have this as their primary priority, but as an isekai fanatic, I'm only looking at what makes this genre so great and seeing if shows can execute these points. Good characters are always a plus, but it's not something I'm looking for too hard.
Rating - B
It's very solid, but it doesn't go above any beyond. A high rating in the B tier is where it belongs for now. If anything special is done in a second season, I'll be re-evaluating it for sure. I don't plan on continuing the source material, however.
